Job N. Manani

Job Manani joined the Freedom Fund in 2023 as a Program Advisor based in Kenya, supporting the Kenyan partners implementing the ‘NIA’ program. This program prioritises working with the most vulnerable children who have experienced child domestic work or are at risk of engaging in it. Job supports partners strengthening child-centred advocacy on exploitative child domestic work, broadening the reach of survivor-centred services for children in domestic work, enhancing economic resilience among at-risk households and communities, and bolstering the policy framework and its implementation.

With extensive experience as a Program Management Specialist, Job has a wealth of expertise in participatory grantee management across the Democracy and Human Rights spectrum within the not-for-profit sector. His proficiency encompasses various aspects, including proposal co-design, policy advocacy, capacity building, tools design, donor reporting, and evaluation. Having supported over 60 grantees prior to joining Freedom Fund, Job has consistently driven quality improvement in program delivery, reporting, compliance, and result harvesting/ impact reporting.

Prior to joining the Freedom Fund, Job’s career spanned roles in policy advocacy focusing on electoral democracy, human rights, Civic Space protection, enhanced Philanthropy environment, amplification of community voices in governance and community-led development initiatives.

Job holds a Young Professional Certificate from Radboud University, Netherlands, an Advanced master’s degree in international development specializing in international development impact assessment, a Master of Arts degree in international studies from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and sociology from the same university.

Job’s research interests revolve around unequal power relations in development, community-owned practices in governance, and public policy analysis on transnational crimes, specifically modern slavery such as human trafficking, child domestic work, and forced labour, among others.
