Introducing Funding Frontline Impact, our new donor resource

Article
July 18, 2023

Support for frontline organisations has always been at the heart of the Freedom Fund’s mission. Since 2014, we have partnered with over 170 of these groups to address modern slavery. These organisations – groups like Agar, which promotes safer migration for Ethiopian domestic workers, and Migrant Workers Rights Network, which advocates for seafood workers in Thailand – inspire us with their willingness to fight for some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Like many of our peers, we are on a journey to become a better funder, ally and supporter to frontline leaders and organisations. We continually reflect on what is working, what isn’t, and what we’ve learned along the way. We feel a growing responsibility to share what we do and why we do it, in hopes of helping others to become more effective and ethical funders.

In this spirit, we are excited to announce the launch of Funding Frontline Impact (www.fundingfrontlineimpact.org), an online resource for donors who believe in the power of supporting frontline organisations. Across this new site, we share stories, tools and resources to help you on your own frontline grantmaking journey – no matter the cause or geography.

Funding Frontline Impact includes:

  • Big picture principles that we believe all frontline funders should follow.
  • Practical advice about various steps in the grantmaking process and the challenges you might encounter.
  • Case study videos from our work to help put principles into context, featuring Freedom Fund team members from around the world.
  • A resource hub, including guides, templates and tools.
  • Ways to take action by promoting better resourcing for frontline groups.

I invite you to visit the site and let us know what you think. You can join our mailing list for updates or email us at [email protected] to continue the conversation. If you would like to share the resource with your networks, you can access our toolkit here.

We hope you will join us in ensuring that frontline organisations have the support they need to sustain and scale their impact.
