India ratified two key global agreements on eradicating child slavery this week, committing the country to adopting international labour standards on the employment of minors and allowing it to be subjected to scrutiny by other nations.

Syrian refugee children in Lebanon are doing back-breaking labour in potato fields and working with pesticides in baking hot greenhouses, a U.N. agency said as it called for greater efforts to prevent child labour during crises.

Airlines urged to train staff to help spot victims of trafficking

Airlines should train flight attendants to spot signs that a person is being trafficked – often young girls being taken overseas for sexual exploitation – according to the UN agency responsible for tackling sexual exploitation and forced labour.

Goods made by child labourers flooding into Canada: World Vision

A new report says Canadians could be unwittingly purchasing billions in dollars of goods made by child labourers in other parts of the world. The report, by World Vision Canada, suggests imports of so-called risky goods totalled $34 billion last year.
