This grant aims to further exploit and utilise the satellite data collected through Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) technology to analyse vessel behaviour against indicators for illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. Based on this, with capacity building and machine learning support from Ocean Mind, the Thai authorities will increase its ability to identify high risk fishing patterns and trigger further investigative and law enforcement responses across other departments. Ultimately, Ocean Mind’s primary objective is to modernise the industry, improving effective compliance and enforcement.
