With this grant, CARE aims to reduce bonded labour in the textiles industry, especially affecting girls and young women in the spinning mills. CARE will contribute towards the common Freedom Fund strategy for the Southern India hotspot, which focuses on; strengthening Community Support Groups, using a film-based curriculum to encourage dialogue with group members on topics such as sexual harassment and workers’ rights; improving education and health provision; livelihood support and training and improving access to social protection schemes; liberating victims of bonded labour and pursuing affects and convictions of perpetrators; initiating dialogue with mill owners and implementing a workers’ rights program within factories.
