The objective of the Ethical Trading Initiative’s (ETI) project is to scale up the Worker Peer Group Program, which is an effort to establish mechanisms for workers to champion improved conditions within factories and mills.
This program has two phases:
– Phase 1: Health-related education modules. This is designed to build health-related awareness and confidence with both management and young women spinning mill workers through a peer education model.
– Phase 2: Supporting broader labour standards among young workers within the spinning mills.
In order to achieve these aims, ETI has brought together a critical mass of stakeholders that work together through the Tamil Nadu Multi-stakeholder Group (TNMS), who will aim to reach an estimated 20 mills in the Tamil Nadu region over a period of 27-30 months.
