This grant will enable the Issara Institute to strengthen and expand their Inclusive Labour Monitoring (ILM) system, which includes information from their hotline, migrant community visits, workplace assessments, and port risk assessments in Thailand. In addition, Issara will seek to address three key Thai seafood supply chain ‘blind spots’ through both research and piloting of innovative new solutions.
MAP Foundation will implement a community-based program focused on prevention outreach, legal support, case management, and referral for survivors in the Mae Sot and Myawaddy border area between Thailand and Myanmar. Both migrant workers who are already in employment and those seeking employment, as well as their families will be provided information by trained peer leaders, through radio and by other means. MAP will support the skilling up of “paralegals” amongst community leaders to serve as legal advocates to assist migrants in accessing redress and complaint mechanisms, legal counsel for the resolution of work-related complaints.
