Established in 1998, the Professional Alliance for Development (PADet) has been a driving force in transforming the lives of vulnerable Ethiopians through innovative programs addressing child welfare, sexual health, food security, livelihoods, youth, and women’s empowerment, safer migration management integrated with peace and humanitarian response. With a vision of secure and dignified lives for all and a mission to empower marginalized communities through sustainable, locally tailored solutions, the organization is guided by a set of core values encompassing integrity, courage, transparency, impartiality, and accountability.
Throughout its journey, PADet has made significant strides, undertaking various projects that have focused on critical areas such as child development and safeguarding including safer migration, youth livelihood & sustainable livelihoods, gender equality and women’s empowerment, and sexual and reproductive health. Noteworthy achievements include reaching over a million individuals through impactful health, livelihood, child welfare and development, and youth and women’s empowerment programs, as well as pioneering social accountability initiatives that have redefined attitudes on gender equity, reproductive health issues, and child protection.
While exerting program scale up and its second strategic pillar emphasizes organizational excellence, encompassing investments in systems, culture, capabilities, partnerships, visibility and funding diversification strengthening; talent development; partnership expansion; funding diversification; systems improvement; and monitoring and evaluation capabilities. This will enhance sustainability and have a long-term impact.
Crucial partnerships with community organizations, youth networks, government bodies, media entities, international development partners, academia, and other relevant specialized institutions, as well as CSOs, form the cornerstone of PADet’s work. These alliances will be expanded to extend the organization’s reach and impact.
