Stella Maris Seafarers’ Center

The Stella Maris Seafarer’s Centre works with migrants vulnerable to labour exploitation in the Thai fishing industry, teaching them life skills and supporting them to access legal and social services in addition to offering emergency shelter.

Based on their past experience, Stella Maris Seafarers’ Center will use this grant to improve the life skills of migrant workers in order to help decrease their vulnerability to forced labour and other forms of exploitation. They will also assist migrant workers to become aware of and access social services provided by either the public, private, or civil sectors.

The Center’s migrant staff will train migrant workers on a range of rights and entitlements to ultimately create watch groups amongst workers and communities and support the emergence of migrant workers leaders. STM will continue to provide emergency support to rescued trafficked workers at their shelter.
