The goal of Vaan Muhil’s project is to build a supportive environment for protecting the rights of adolescent children workers in the textile and garment industries in Tamil Nadu. The objectives of the project are first to build constituencies that will collaborate to eliminate child labour and exploitation by enhancing the capacity of civil society organisations, community-based organisations, and other stakeholders in twelve districts of Tamil Nadu. Second, the project will strengthen government mechanisms to prevent and respond to issues of poor working conditions in parts of the textile sector in Tamil Nadu. Finally, the project will develop a repository of information related to the issues that workers face in the textile industry and disseminate this information to stakeholders by publishing reports and web-based materials.
